Stroke and Turn Clinic
2010 Stroke and Turn Clinic (7:00 pm)
Training is required for all individuals who are not USA Swimming, YMCA, or High School certified. These clinics are for anyone with no experience or just 1 year experience or anyone who does not want to take the ON-LINE COURSE. Two "live" clinics are available:
- Thursday, May 27th, 2010 at Farmington Country Club in the Pine Room - Revised 5-14-10
- Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010 at Forest Lakes - North Pavillion
We use StrokeandTurn.Com as a training tool for both new and experienced Stroke and Turn Judges.
Individual training modules cover the philosophy of officiating, the individual strokes, the relays, and disqualifications. In some cases a concept is presented as text which is then followed by a series of related questions. In most cases a video clip is shown that illustrates either a legal or illegal swim and this is then followed by a question which relates to the video clip.
If you have at least two consecutive years of experience as a JSL Stroke and Turn Judge you have the option of completing the on-line training in place of attending the annual JSL Stroke and Turn training clinic. If you'd like to exercise this option you should:
- Use your web browser to go to the training the StrokeandTurn.Com website.
- Register on the site by clicking on "New User" on the right side of the screen and then following the directions.
- Complete each of the learning activities.
- Print a Course Certificate from the left side of the screen.
- Give a copy of your Course Certificate to your JSL representative who will forward it to Locke Boyer.
Even if you're required to attend a JSL Stroke and Turn Judge clinic, we highly recommend that you use this site to reinforce what you've learned at the clinic. This is especially true for those who will be officiating for the first time. Nothing beats experience when it comes to officiating and time spent going through these training modules should help you to more quickly become a competent Stroke and Turn Judge.
Thank you for volunteering.
